How it works

How a small business actually puts AI to work.

Untangled Work uses a three-step process: first a workflow assessment that maps where your business loses time, then hands-on AI workflow training for your team — weekly or monthly, by role, in person or over a screen share — and finally side-by-side builds that make the best workflows permanent. No technical background required, and every session uses your team’s real work.

We find your tangles

It starts with a quick phone call, no charge. We use it to make sure Untangled Work is a fit for your business and to get a few basics down, so the on-site visit is time well spent. If it’s not a fit, we’ll tell you straight — you haven’t spent a dime to find out.

From there we schedule the on-site workflow assessment at a time that works for your business. We sit with each job role — front office, shop floor, management — and watch how work actually moves: where the same information gets retyped, which emails pile up, which reports only one person knows how to run.

You leave the assessment with a written report covering:

  • The 3–5 places in your business where AI can help the most
  • An estimate of the hours each one could save every week
  • Which group should start first, and what their first training session would cover

The assessment is a flat $500, credited in full toward any training plan — so you’re never buying training you don’t need. It’s priced to pay for itself: ask what an hour of your time is worth, then count how many the paperwork takes every week. One untangled workflow usually covers the fee in the first month.

We train your people

Training happens weekly or monthly, one role at a time — front office, operations, management. In a business where one person wears two or three of those hats, we train the person, not the org chart. Each session is about an hour, hands-on, using Claude and Claude Cowork on that group’s actual tasks — this week’s quotes, this week’s customer emails, this month’s report.

Sessions run in person at your business or over a simple screen share — whichever you prefer. If your office is also your kitchen table, virtual works great: nobody has to tidy up for company.

There are no slideshows about “the future of AI.” The rule for every session is simple: everyone leaves with something working — a quote drafted in minutes instead of an hour, an email answered before it goes cold, a report that writes its own first draft.

Training is a monthly retainer you can cancel anytime. Most businesses start with one group and add more once the first one is saving time.

We build it in, together

When a workflow proves itself, we make it permanent. Side-by-side builds take a single workflow — quoting, invoicing, email triage, reporting — and turn it into something documented, repeatable, and owned by your team. We build it next to you, not for you, so anyone can run it — not just the person who was in the room when it was built.

Builds are priced per workflow and end with a handoff: written steps, a working setup, and a team that doesn’t need us to keep it running. When we’re done, you don’t need us. That’s the point.

Straight answers

Questions owners actually ask.

What does AI training for a small business actually cover?

Practical, hands-on skills: writing quotes and estimates faster, drafting and answering customer email, turning messy notes into clean invoices and reports, and building repeatable workflows for the tasks your team does every week. Sessions are organized by role — front office, operations, management — and when one person wears two or three of those hats, we train the person, not the org chart. Every exercise uses your business's real work, not canned demos.

Do my employees need any technical background?

No. If they can write an email, they can do this. Training is in plain English — no coding, no jargon, no prerequisites. Most of the people we train have never used AI before the first session — including the family members and part-timers who handle the books in a lot of small businesses.

Will AI replace my employees?

No. We point AI at the work nobody was hired to do — retyping, chasing invoices, after-hours bookkeeping. Your crew keeps doing the skilled work customers pay for, and the person doing the books gets their evenings back. In a small business, the goal isn't fewer people — it's getting the owner and the family off the paperwork treadmill.

What AI tools do you train on?

Primarily Claude and Claude Cowork, chosen because they're built for business use. Your business will need its own Claude subscription — a monthly per-person plan from Anthropic that costs far less than the hours it saves. That's deliberate: the account is yours, so every workflow we build together stays yours, even if we never meet again. And what we teach transfers to other AI tools too.

How much time does training take away from work?

One session per group, weekly or monthly — typically about an hour. Sessions are hands-on and built around your team's actual tasks, so the time usually pays for itself the same week: people leave with a working shortcut for something they already do.

Do we have to host you at our business?

Only if you want to. Every training session works in person or over a simple screen share — whichever you prefer. Plenty of the businesses we guide run from home, and a video call means nobody has to tidy up for company or let a stranger into the house. Evenings are often easier to schedule virtually, too.

What does it cost?

Nothing's charged until after a quick, no-charge call confirms it's a good fit. From there, the workflow assessment is a flat $500, credited in full toward any plan. Team training is a monthly retainer you can cancel anytime, and side-by-side builds are priced per workflow — exact numbers come in writing with your assessment report. Put the $500 against your own time: one untangled workflow usually gives hours back every week.

Do I have to pay the $500 before I even talk to you?

No. Every assessment starts with a quick, no-charge call — just so we can make sure it's a fit for your business and jot down a few basics before we meet. The $500 is only for the on-site assessment you schedule after that call. If it's not the right fit, we'll tell you straight, and you've spent nothing.

What areas do you serve?

The greater Memphis metro: Memphis, Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Cordova, Arlington, Lakeland, and Millington in Tennessee; Southaven, Olive Branch, and Horn Lake in Mississippi; and West Memphis, Arkansas. Sessions happen at your business or virtually by screen share — whichever you prefer.

What kind of results should we expect?

Hours back every week on the work that eats your margins: quoting, invoicing, email, and reporting. A Memphis-area sign company reclaimed hours of weekly admin time without hiring. Bluff City Pallet's team now runs a repeatable, AI-assisted content process themselves. The Pharmacy Coffeehouse got online ordering tied to their POS, plus workflows that grow their rewards program. Your assessment report estimates the savings for your specific business before you commit.
